4x resize is a disaster--everything is distorted when photo is enlarged. 2x is a little better, but still I see things distorted/out of place (sort of like what AI does). Perhaps it's using AI to perform. Anyway, I would suggest taking your photos as RAW/48mp and get it sharp the first time.

I originally got this (years ago) for enlarging images. Turns out it’s good for resizing AND for touching up old photos too. It’s great in that it doesn’t reduce the quality of images it processes.

i’m going to go ahead and give Smart 5 stars tho in reality it’s probably more like a 4.3. not having access to a computer and in desperate need of enlarging all these wonderful but teeny tiny images i have, i scoured the IOS earth in hopes of finding something. something. everything i tried was garbage and didnt do what was being claimed. then i came across this gave it a try w little expectation and guess what it worked! now i can print my images at a reasonable size and i dont have to worry so much about the resolution output of whatever app i might be using (many of which have a resolution quality that is pretty pathetic, unfortunately). <br/>It has its issues, it takes awhile, it crashes out a lot, a couple times i thought it broke my phone when it got stuck in a major fashion .. but eventually it rebooted r whatever and all was well. There is some talk about it creating artifacts, which if u don’t know is seriously difficult issue for digital photography algorithms where they produce flawed spots in the enlargement, blooming, blurred edges here and there. this might be the case here a bit but im satisfied with my enlargements and really just ecstatic i’m finally able to do it. nothings perfect. hope this review helps those on the search.. in my experience it’s legit and worth a try

It’s frustrating there’s so many apps that don't explain what they’re good for, especially one such as this. I struggled for a long time to understand it and my understanding can still slip through my fingers when I compare the size of a photo from here and what I started with. If I do it right my finished product looks better when I’m done. Experiment with apps. Most are non-destructive; meaning they don’t touch your original photo but if you’re worried, duplicate your original. Possibly they started out with a high-resolution photo. Try something different; something mid or low res. The native editor has tools beyond “sharpen“ but other editors have more to clarify your photo. Sometimes it’s not that you need to “sharpen“ your photo so much as increase contrast, change highlights, the brilliance, etc, etc. If I want a really stand out photo I expect to use as many editors as it takes to get the look I want and this may be after taking the photo with a couple or few camera apps. I start by adding a bit more to the low res photos of maybe 50 kb from a screenshot with a frame - the easiest are Dyed (fun color matchings!) or Afterlight (best default editor at the time plus a smattering of fonts &amp; a couple stickers; mostly a plethora of filters, but oh well). I snip off the frame as the resolution gets higher; be aware if you need to engage in trickery it's a photo that's not going to reach high resolution. In addition to working well, being simple and straight-forward there was a point where, for no reason other than she could, the background was uniquely and beautifully colored each time I opened the app. I liked that. A lot. Now it's grey, right? Just grey with menu choices in a row. Oh well. How dull. It doesn't make me happy anymore. (Update- it's better, thanks. There’s just not as much leeway as there used to be.)

I was excited to try this app, but can’t since nothing happens when I try to load a photo!

I use this app to resize dvd quality Screencaps and it works great! My photos are crystal clear! I use the 4x option on my Screencaps.
