8 of 25I absolutely LOVE this app!

Shredder is by FAR the best chess app I’ve ever used.

It’s breathtakingly FAST!

Using it in “aggressive mode” is how I like to use it, because it makes every game FUN!

Beyond the excitement of each game played that way, I find that taking additional time to study the record of each game solidifies my understanding of what the hell happened 🤔 🤣

A summary of all my experience doing battle with Shredder:
among all the best living players I’ve ever gone up against — even the most accommodating, patient, informative, and generous of opponents — none has taught me as much in such an amazingly short time as has Shredder.

In aggressive mode, even though I realize it’s thinking far, far ahead and referring to a huge database of games played by grand masters to prepare itself for each potential move (modifying both its strategy and its tactics along the way), it makes each move so ridiculously quickly that I just pretend I’m facing a truly awesome competitor who will still gladly teach me how to weigh the options in any given situation and to think ahead the way he does. It’s wonderful! ♥️

***

I’ve enthusiastically recommended Shredder to every chess lover I’ve ever known, and each of them has wound up doing exactly the same.

Pass it on!

Great chess game I’ve been using for years. Suddenly there’s a bug where after a game the computer says it will increase its rating to the maximum (2600) difficulty, even if I lose. It used to work well and increment based on performance and it was my favorite feature.
Great app, also great on iPad
Any chance of getting an update to support the X and above screens?
The title says it all- this works well enough; but it’s slow and the puzzle solutions are full of problems. This app was highly recommended to me by two good players, so it’s disappointing to find several mistakes in their puzzle solutions within the first day using the app. I do like the customization of the board and pieces available and the fact that I can review and analyze other games, etc.; but the interface could be improved quite a bit. Overall, it’s decent for an easy way to ply against a bot of customizable difficulty but there are better chess apps out there.
Look no further! Shredder Chess is the GOAT
This is just a rock solid chess app. The engine is great, there are no silly gimmicks, and the interface is clean with the options you’d expect.
