Umm, shows promise

The instructions are not in proper English. The sentence regarding selecting the distance you will move closer to the object isn't structured properly to be of much use without interpretation of what I think the author might be saying.

Great update

UPDATE on version 2.0:
You added the features just as I asked, WOW. That adds important functionality and inables height measurement indoors or for closer objects. Thanks for updating.

Regarding the review about calibration, I don't understand, it could not be more quick and simple, One minute or less.

The only request I have for any future update would be to make the final measurement display font a little larger on par with the angle displays at the bottom of the screen.

-------------------------
Original review of version 1.0:

Just as described in the auther's write-up. This was a neat idea bringing together a few main features of the 3G iPhone. The height measuring tool is quite simple to use.

My preference would be to stick with the present method using the GPS position for measuring the height of distant tall objects. But add an alternate method for near objects using a selectable threshold fixed distance to move closer to the target.

For example, have a selection wheel with the following selectable options:
GPS
5
10
20
40
80

And next to that selection, a second wheel with:
Feet
Yards
Meters
Can't be done.

Before you do anything... you must "calibrate" it, twice. You hit "calibrate" and then a pop-up hides nearly all of the screen... and tells you to align the (not visible) cross-hairs with an object. Huh? The pop-up info *HIDES* the cross-hairs completely.... make them impossible to use. Very poor design.

Great tool need more

Great! tool, works as specified.
Need pro version with .1 or .01 deg accuracy.
Different jitter filters for high .01 accuracy would be a bonus.
Support for averaging of retakes is a must.

Works!
