Buyer Beware!, discontinued support very soon.

As a personal database program, it is good. No complaints here. Big problem moving forward, FileMaker is discontinuing this product, both the OSX and iOS platforms. Will it work with future operating system upgrades from Apple??? Better have a back up and cross your fingers. They want Bento users to upgrade to FileMaker Pro Ver 12 and FileMaker Go. Unfortunately, I have too much money tied up in Bento 2, 3, and now version 4. Will be looking for something else than FileMaker, since $149 upgrade is too much money for a personal database app. What's even more pathetic, if you have FileMaker Pro version 11, it will cost you $199 to upgrade to FileMaker Pro version 12. Additionally, the FileMaker Go for version 11 was $40 and now they do not charge you for FileMaker Go version 12. What gives, FileMaker?

Don't buy this

While the app does work, do not buy. FileMaker is ceasing support for Bento, and pushing people to it's 5 times as expensive DB software, FileMaker. While FileMaker is fine software, it is overkill for many, many users, including me. They are offering a 'discounted' upgrade, but even this is almost 4 times the cost of Bento, and the annual updates are twice the price of Bento. Save your money and look at either TapForms or HandBase, which are similar to Bento, and offer OS X and iOS versions

Excellent app

Takes work and patience

The good news is it the most powerful app on my phone. That is also the bad news. This is no light weight app. After getting used to the functionality, I have had to reel myself in and keep it simple. Probably note apps and such serve best for todo lists. This app is more suited for projects that are data intensive. In my opinion if you try to use Bento as a catch-all you will get bogged down. I know by experience. There is a flaw with the database on the iPhone. I have to remove the app from my phone on occasion and reinstall because the app occasionally refuses to work.

Good but not great

IT'S BEING DISCONTINUED!! Filemaker has ripped me off buying the Mac Version, and the iPhone version and two (2) versions for the iPad. And now they're discontinuing it! From the start, they've improved the mobile database feel and look but it's still a very basic database in concept only. If you don't have Bento for Mac, it's even more basic. I used it to carry a lot of detailed lists around, and the encrypted fields are somewhat beneficial, but... It's not a real relational database like Access so its usefulness is limited to keeping and making lists with detailed records. Sorting records is another headache. In short DO NOT BUY!! Go with TapForms!!

This is a great app

I am very sorry that this app is being abandoned. I use it to keep track of my life and it suits my needs perfectly.

Loved it until the company decided we weren't worthy! FileMaker is too much - bento just right!
