Great wine pairings. The rest needs work.

For wine novices, wondering what to get with a meal or for a special occasion, this is a great app. For people looking to store their favorite wines, or who want to keep track of what wines they have had or what wines you like, it works ok. For those looking to manage the list of wines you have at home, or share that list with your spouse, don't bother.

This rating is for the paid version (supposedly no ads).

Pros:
- Fantastic interface for Wine Assistant, informed by your preferences (which are limited, however). This really is the heart of the app.
- Scanning wine labels to have them read and stored in your "My Wines" section is great. Works nicely.
- My Wines lets you store all your wines, rate them 1-5 stars, then sort them by price, rating, year, and name. You can also set each wine as a "Favorite" or put it on your "Wishlist." Note, however, that this feature doesn't do what you'd think it does (see below).
- The wine concierge is great for when you're looking for a professional wine recommendation.

Cons:
- Despite the "no ads" purchase, on startup it will still give you ads for their own services, like the wine club or unlimited scans.
- Family Sharing in iOS doesn't do anything that I could tell. It doesn't share the data from "My Wines," even if you log in using the same username and password. Doesn't allow you to share the in app purchases either. In fact, I'm not sure what Family Sharing does in Hello Vino, even though in the App Store they say it is supported.

Things that need work:
- The "My Wines" interface is too simplistic. You can sort and search, but you can't filter the wines to show only specific ratings or price range or varietal.
- Preferences for use in the Wine Assistant are way too simplistic. Just red or white, light, medium or rich, and price range. No varietal or country/region of origin.
- Similarly, the info captured for each wine in your "My Wines" list is also limited. Just name, vintage (year) and price. It should at least have the Varietal (Pinot Grigio, Cabernet, etc.), if not the region of origin.
- The "Wine Assistant" doesn't take your My Wines list into account. The recommendations should at least take into account your Favorites, if not what you have at home.
- There is no cellar management in the "My Wines" list, saying what bottles you have, what you're out of, what you want to buy (although I do use the wishlist for that last part). Frankly the App Store description implies that the app does this, but it doesn't. It's more of a "I had this before and liked it/hated it" kind of functionality, not a "this is what I have at home" capability.
- I should be able to share the "My Wines" list with my spouse. While my spouse's preferences may be different from mine (she likes Pinot Noir, I prefer Cabs), we do have a common list of wines we have at home. The app should support sharing that list.

Difficult to use scanning mechanism. Also did not allow me to purchase unlimited scans.

Great App

I’ve had this app probably since its release, or early in after being released, and it has not failed me through all of these years. It has helped me keep tabs of my favorite wine and find wine when I wasn’t sure what I wanted. Everyone should have this app and share it with their friends! ;-)

iOS 26 issue maybe? I get to localization page and select state and then nothing works beyond that

My go to wine adviser

I LOVE this app. I ho to it several times a week for ford and wine pairings and they are alway spot on. One thing I like is that they offer red wine alternatives with foods where a white is the first choice. A boon for us red wine lovers!

So far so good, but the app doesn’t allow arranging inventory by type or alphabetical
