Automap for iPhone / iPod touch

What a great little app! And priced right! I was worried about latency but it was minimal! Makes me tempted to buy more novation controllers to automap my whole studio, which is probably why this is at the price point it is. Sneaky Novation! But in my case it might have worked. Great app!

The ideas novation has for this app is a good one. Already a user of novation hardware and automap pro, I was rather surprised at the awkwardness of this app. This app only allows two sliders and eight buttons per page to controller functionality. What they should have let you do is to have the ability to pick from different objects to control different parameters, like a button, a slider, or a xy pad, then fit the objects to a page in automap pro, then learn(or self learn) the control parameters of what you want to control. In this way, you can work more ergonomically, rather than bouncing through page to page, trying to find the parameters you want to control, then finding out that the parameter you want to control is set to button and then you have to relearn that parameter on a slider twelve pages away. <br/>Overall, this app is awkward to use, takes time to fix all the parameters that you want to control correctly, and you overall don't have the ergonomics of what this app was suppose be for, which takes away from the whole Novation Automap system, and the use of the iPhone. And since there are other iPhone apps, like from iTM and other software companies that are much better than what this app has to offer, I suggest that Novation do a real overhaul of the gui objects interface to allow for better control of parameter and ergonomics and to live up to the whole Automap concept.

Good app, but would be better if it was updated for the iPad.<br/>5 stars when updated.

don't waste your money. There is latency and controllers sometimes do not do anything for a second. I cannot believe novation is actually selling a product like this.

The novation Automap App is awesome, easy to setup, use, and totally fun. I can control a DJ set with effects in Ableton Live with jus my Ipod Touch wirelessly! it can control any DAW or Plug-in. Love it. And for $2.99 how can anyone complain....seriously.

Very cool. Takes a while to get set-up in logic but once you scan your plug-in's everything is gravy. Sadly logic plug-ins's are non-standard and require a work around that I haven't tried yet. Only complaint is that the layout is locked to the two faders, eight buttons set-up. Something like touch osc with mixer, drum, etc pages would be delicious. For the money, I'm in heaven.

I have had this app from the begining and just hated it. It would stutter when moving the faders and skip making any smooth fades impossible as well as the toggle buttons would lag. All of that has been fixed when using Automap 3.7 on my windows 7 x64 PC. It now works as I always wanted it to, in my audio programs it is smooth and responsive. In other programs (any that use Key Commands)it is the perfit custom touch hotkey controller

I agree with others. 2 Faders and 8 buttons? The buttons (on/off) aren't useful for tweaking any parameters... unless you want the parameter off or full up!How about 8 knobs? The buttons are nice to map Keyboard shortcuts to ... but hey, a keyboard button is very accessable anyway! How about a page of 8 Faders? Unlke the presets in the Novation Remote Keyboards I can't see much &quot;Auto&quot; about this. My Cubase &quot;Mixer&quot; default is 77 pages of randomly assigned parameters... The app works. I started building a useable mixer map with, but got bored. The free Cubase app is useful, and there's couple of othe MIDI controlers that emulate Mackie Control. These are more useful. Hopefully an update might help? Lee
