I'm really impressed by what this app does. It's the best one I've seen to keep track of and intelligently suggest concerts/ shows and artists in your specified area. One fave feature is how it has links to songs and videos of any artist. Once it scans your iTunes library (iTunes match compatible!), and this may take a while with very large libraries, you can narrow the artists to just the ones you want to see. Very cool!

Could be better but good

It keeps annoying me with prompts to do a rating. It has long lists of bands many are repeated. They should fix that.

Doesn’t work as I expected

I am a former user of the brilliant Shows app which was decommissioned and thought this was a suitable replacement. A few things don’t work as I’d expect.

First, there are no push notifications. I can’t be bothered to open the app on a regular basis to find out about shows, make the machine do that work for me. I’d pay for an in-app purchase or even a subscription type deal for that since I’ve missed countless shows since Shows app was offline since I can’t tell what is playing.

Second, it does not really show you your own artists’ shows, it pads that list with additional SIMILAR artists and there seems to be no way to filter that out despite the confusion tabs at the top of the list. I like Bat for Lashes, I hate Melissa Ethridge. Don’t try to guess, just show what I bloody listen to.

Third, the design is very poor, and I’m trying to be nice. The mixed font styles (serif and sans-serif) not to mention somewhat inconsistent UI could use a lot of polish and rethinking.

In all, this app has a lot of features but I personally don’t think most apply to me, although some might. Unfortunately the lack of notifications are really a requirement since I can just as easily go online and check for shows rather than use an app so it would be nice to be alerted. Also, the riffraff of “similar” artists is impossible to do away with and I can’t find the shows I’m interested (you know, the ones in my library).

Well worth the cost to get customized event listings based on your personal music library.

A great asset

Greatly helps broaden music interests.

Always a bit short

This app is still the best for discovery compared to songkick and bandsintown. In this app you can hear artist previews, see % likelihood you will like the band, and add the event directly to your calendar. However, the app is still behind the competitors that have last.fm integration, notifications, and much more modern and better UI design.

Crashes every time I open it

Useless app.
