8 of 25Flawed iPhone port of one of the true gems from the 16-bit era of video game history. It's not a Retina display app, but neither was the original in the 90s, so. If you aren't sure whether you'll like the game at all, go download the free version which contains the whole first level.

Now, here's the stuff you won't find out by playing the free version:
- In the Intestinal Distress level (the next-to-last level if you don't count Andy Asteroids, and previously a Sega Genesis exclusive) the Plasma power-up weapons cannot be obtained, making the boss almost impossible to defeat (they can be physically obtained, but they don't give you the mega-ammo that they're supposed to).
- Apparently there's a glitch that makes the final boss impossible to defeat. Haven't gotten there myself yet, though.
- if you're holding out for an update to fix the above issues, well, it was last updated three years ago, so good luck. Hope Gameloft knows that neglecting their older titles like this- especially ports of classics like EWJ- makes them look bad as a developer.
- To end on an "up" note, the Andy Asteroid levels are now tilt-controlled, which feels natural on the iPhone and works much more smoothly than I recall the d-pad working on these levels on my Sega Genesis in the 90s.

All told, if you've got an XBOX360, I'd say track down that port instead.
This game was my childhood. Even though the music player has issues, its a good er... I mean GROOVY port of this game.
