Found a fix to the iphone4 issue: there's a switch at the back of the seat that needs to be pressed in order for the dock to turn on. The flatter shape of iphone4 doesn't reach this switch, so I fastened a Velcro pad as padding and it works. I don't blame TomTom for this, since it was conceived when the iPhone 3G was out.

I do blame TomTom for other shortcomings:

1) audio is connected by a second cable, which looks messy at best, but is downright cumbersome around the dash.

2) hands free calling - a big reason why I got this - is abysmal. I would expect sound to come thru the stereo since it's connected for my iTunes, but instead it's thru a tinny, barely audible speaker behind the dock! I end up undocking the phone for calls. Stupid.

3) the suction cup stopped working on the dash after a year. No amount of cleaning or tightening of the lock helps, so now it's on the windshield, making the cables even more in my way.

4) the aforementioned audio cable's jack has developed deafness in one ear. I bought two new cables before I realized the problem was with the jack in the dock, not the cable or car input. So goodbye, stereo sound.

There still is a great need for an in-car iphone docking station, and i bet a properly designed one will sell well. I hope TomTom (or a competitor) has learned from these gaffes and comes out with a second generation.
iPod Touch 4G iOS4.33 not work
this software does not work period. don't bother

The TomTom Car Kit does not work with the iPod touch 4G.
I can't get this to work I have iPhone 4 tomtom USB power cradle for car signal booster I can't get this thing to work anyone have this issue or suggestions?
I have had the app and the car kit since it was first introduced (used with a 3GS). Has worked flawlessly since then. When I upgraded to a 4s phone, it no longer works because of a physical change in the body of the phone. TomTom has a fix (an adapter). One message to their help line, exchange a few emails and less than 24 hours after my initial contact, the adapter is in the mail. No fuss. No muss.
Best example of customer service and product support I have seen in a very long time.
Thank you TomTom !!!
