Odd twist on a timeless game

by &$?!&$!~>!!\¥€ · September 14, 2020

I grew up playing the original Final Fantasy on the NES and love the game. Finally decided to revisit it on the Ol’ iPhone, and while this will give you the gist of the original, it’s an “updated,” and, in my opinion, fairly bastardized version of the original. You more or less get the feel of the original, but there are a significant number of changes, many of which I didn’t care for. While 99% of the game is considerably easier than the original, your final boss has substantially more health than in the NES version, which was odd. Anyway, it’s an okay remake but I wish they had left it alone.

Good improvement on the original

BUT this game desperately needs some sort of controller support. The virtual control stick/button is awful, and can easily cramp your hand after extended play.

Great Game

I’ve beat this game a number of times. I would rate this a 5 if they would add cloud support for save data.

BACKBONE

Great game on mobile. Wish they would update it to support the Backbone controller.

Great time - no issues

Just finished a play through and worked great. No issues at all and looking forward to starting the next.

Good and bad

by Leaguelegendspro · April 7, 2021

Played this game before on nes. This version is like the “easy mode” of the nes. You get lots of handicaps but the game is still fun. They are identical story wise until Tiamat (second to last boss). There is no robot like in the og version. I’m taking 2 stars off because of the ending tho. Final Boss is completely different . Leading to the boss instead of just fighting all the fiends (mini bosses) again you have to do these stupid temple trial things like memory games and mindless moving objects to correct slots and games of chance. You can tell it’s nothing like what you just played up until this point. Ruined the nostalgic experience I was having and I decided to uninstall here.

Classic RPG

by Ian2345 · August 25, 2020

This game brings back so many memories. 30 years later and it’s still fun to play. If you have never played FF I this is a classic and you should check it out.

Only complaint: no volume control. I’d rather listen to music or whatever but the game just takes over with no way to change the behavior. Please fix. Allow music and effects to be disabled.

New version

I paid roughly $10 for this game why do I have to buy the new version too?
