Most customizable of all...

by MadMadMikey · July 28, 2010

Pros: This app is by far the most customizable of them all. Good sounds to begin with but better when I add my own. Not only that but being able to create my own button graphics helps me locate the buttons quicker when I need them. I use mine at work. When the kids get into my van a voice tells them to "Buckle Up!", and when we arrive Mickey Mouse tells them he's glad they've arrived.

Cons: Your sound clips have to be ridiculously short (can't use it to trigger a song or long spiel), the file transfer system isn't the most friendly of them all (You'll need at least a C+ in computer efficiency) and unlike other sound board apps, you can't load directly from your iPod app (all your soundbites have to be in .wav format - use iTunes to convert).

All in all I gave it 4 stars but mostly because I'm good with computers and could figure it all out. It's certainly the best of what's available. I hope in future updates they allow iPod transfers or at least let us transfer longer (higher quality) sounds.

Save your $1....

This soundboard is terrible. The sounds on the board sound so generic its not even funny. On top of sounding generic they sound extremely muffled. Go download the "Game Show Soundboard." It was made for the iPhone and iPod Touch, but sounds way better then this trash.

caveat emptor

I bought this as I'm desperately looking for a quality soundboard that will allow for the assignment of custom button images. While this one will do that, I paid for the additional in-app purchase that claims to add "expanded media options" or some such nonsense. Granted, it was only $1.99, but the point is it does not work. Nothing happens when tapping the audio import button. Nothing. This is broken and hasn't been updated in a while so it may never work properly. Very frustrated...

Nice update

by Vogon42 · May 27, 2010

I tried out the iPhone version some time back and really liked it. The iPad version has a lot more room for icons and is easier to use.

The copy/paste and file uploading from iTunes really is a nice improvement. Adding new sounds and icons is a lot easier now.

The sound quality is great and I was really surprised how good the recording is on the iPad with the built-in microphone.

I haven't played with the timers yet so I don't know how good this is, but the interface seems easy to use.

Great app and great service!

Fun to amuse your friends in meetings! Also very responsive developer...I discovered an issue, emailed support and in only a few hours received a reply. Just now my iPad says there's an update, less than a week later that fixes my issue! I know of sw costing thousands that doesn't get fixed that quick! Great job...

Best app on the market

This app is wonderful. Perfect for productions, events, or just playing around on the couch. Very easy to use and many options to add your own custom sounds. Customer service is outstanding. They respond directly to any question you have regarding the app within 24 hours. Would definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys playing with sound effects. Would rate 10 stars if able to.

Excellent Soundboard

Why spend more for a soundboard when this one gives you all you need? Get the upgrade, and you're set! Easy to use. Taps into all your iTunes playlists and will play through your Bluetooth sound system. Highly recommended.

Pretty Neat

CenterStageXL is a pretty nifty app that allows you to have a very customizable soundboard for your iPad.

There are quite a few soundboard apps out there ranging from fart sounds to game show sounds. Sure they are neat and funny…but the entertainment didn't last very long for me. Many of these apps restrict you to the sounds provided with the app. Some allow you to record your own sounds using the device (iPad / iPhone / iPod). This app also allows you to record your own sounds. What sets it apart is the ability to upload my own sounds and icons via iTunes and change them whenever I want.

As far as sound goes, the provided sounds are ok. Yes, they are of the generic category (the quality of sound is good on my iPad) but I didn't get the app for these sounds. I got it so I can put my own in. I have been able to put my own files on easily with the instructions provided and they sound great. Works as advertised which is always a plus.

My only wish is that the developer continues to work on the app in order to provide additional functionality (for me - yeah selfish - I'd like to see a future option to play different file formats). Overall, I like the app. I can see it costing more than the current $.99 price tag but like most consumers…I prefer the $.99 category of pricing.
