You are better off buying pretty much any other app. Tried it on iPhone 4, totally useless.

The poor relation

Good sound, all of the "dance machine" functionality works well, no harder or easier to use (in principle) on this platform than it is on any other platform, BUT...

• More or less impossible to fat-finger anything precisely on an iPhone; the controls are just too small. Better to run it on an iPad? It's listed as supporting the iPad, however...

• Coarse, pixellated, ugly graphic UI when the app is run in 2X mode on an iPad. It looks like an Atari game from the early 80s. If you run it in iPhone (1X) mode, you need a jeweler's loupe to see the controls and their labels. (On both platforms, you can stretch the UI with the standard 2-finger gesture, and then use a 2-fingered drag gesture to pan around. If you do that, you'll still need your reading glasses, you'll touch the wrong buttons unless your hands are the size of Barbie's, and the graphics are obviously low-res on any Retina iPhone.)

• No background audio support. If you switch apps, the sound stops. (There is no loss of state within the app if you bring it back to the foreground without a new launch.)

• Somehow fools Audiobus into thinking that it will be a good citizen in that world, but is not. To be fair, only the iPad version of the product is officially listed as Audiobus-compliant, but the developers have done something (or not done something) odd, so that the Audiobus app doesn't omit this app from the list of possible inputs. Rebirth can be placed in the input slot (it incorrectly claims to be "ReBirth for iPad"), can be launched from that position, but then doesn't "play nice" in that environment. I could document all the ways it doesn't work, but — to simplify — it simply doesn't work.

So, which platform should this app be run on? If you are old enough to have heard this style of music when it was current, you won't be able to see this interface either on an iPhone, or on an iPad in 1X mode; you'd need to be either a middle-schooler or a vulture to discriminate detail that tiny. If you can stand how ugly the low-res graphics are on an iPad in 2X mode, and don't care about fitting in the the brave new world of Audiobus, it's an OK toy for that scenario. You can use audio copy/paste to get your sound out, I guess. Meh. My advice? Breathe deeply, reach for your wallet, and get the iPad version of the app, and don't bother trying to fool around with this on any device.

Do not buy

Play doesn't work so nothing works. And even if it did it has one of the worst interfaces I've ever seen. Apple I want my money back.

No retina graphics. Has the look of a sophisticated music app but lacks the functionality.

Not a good buy

Not impressed with this App. I have used Propellerhead's Reason for years and this App is no comparison.
