Block Mania goes a long way towards solving many of the problems that plague other brick games. First and foremost, you can slide your finger well under the paddle, which is far superior to having to press directly on the paddle and dwarfing it. The instructions actually tell you what the power-up symbols mean, so you're not just guessing. (The power-ups are a bit too tiny to differentiate, however.) The playing field is portrait instead of landscape so the area between the bricks and the paddle isn't too small. Gameplay and graphics are smooth. Overall a very nice app, especially for free! If you're frustrated by the many failed attempts at brick breakers adapted for the tiny-screened iPod, this maybe the app you've been looking for.

And I'm having a pretty good time sitting on my paddle, when all the sudden some asshat starts knocking me off some rectangular walls. So after a few minutes of this I decide that I've had enough of this, smash 10 walls on my way, and leave.
