The Reversi

Reversi was one of the first computer games I played back in the early 1980s, and has remained a favorite ever since, along with the sliding squares game. (check out SquareTap for a great one of those) But other Reversi games had ceased to be challenging to win, so I changed my game to &quot;win by how much,&quot; which means that I seek the lowest or highest score possible when the other player scores zero. In other words, I seek to skunk the computer, while getting either the lowest score possible, or a perfect 64. <br/><br/>Suffice to say I was used to winning, if not skunking, every game. Then along came The Reversi. It walked all over me. Frankly, it terrified me for some time. Then I began learning its methods, starting with the lowest &quot;thinking level&quot; for the computer, and working my way up. After two years, I've won games now at every level, but I can only say that I've completely mastered up to about level 5. That's 15 levels more to go. Quite simply, this is the most amazing Reversi/Othello game I've played. Maybe there are others I haven't tried, but I feel confident after studying The Reversi that from now on I'll be able to handle whatever anyone throws at me. It teaches you to divide and conquer, to quickly form impenetrable defenses along one wall or corner, and much more. If you are ready to seek the highest skills in Reversi, your master has just appeared; get this game.<br/><br/>Update for newer version:<br/>The levels of difficulty have been changed. Even at level 12 now it will let you have a corner, as ten levels have been added. Apparently most of those are on the &quot;easy&quot; end of things. I can consistently win at all Levels up to 12 so far, and I'm still working my way up to see what level is the first soul-crusher. The new scale of levels makes it a lot more fun to learn the trickier gambits for winning.<br/><br/>The Reversi is still the best, although I'd still like to see a final undo.

if you're a fan of othello/reversi this is the best choice for playing on your iphone/ipod touch. the ai is tough in the upper levels, but it can be won. nice graphics too.

Immediately after downloading began playing with family who loved it. This is a great game that is simple to learn but requires thinking to master. Great for all ages.

I have been looking for a good version of Othello for a while &amp; decided on this one. Looked like it had probably the best graphics of most shown on the app store. I was hesitant though due to the fact there was only one review shown. I am glad I downloaded this. The graphics are great. Looks very much like the board game. There are 20 levels and the AI is very tough. Anything past about level 5 is really hard to beat &amp; can be frustrating but its very addictive. You win new boards when you beat the AI at level 5 and above it appears. So far I have 4 different boards. Not quite sure how many different boards are available though. One negative, all be it a small one, is when a game is finished, you have to tap five different times just to start a new game. Not a big deal really, just a minor design flaw it would seem. All in all, a great Othello app!

Great job! The animation is pretty slick. Well worth the price. Would purchase again.

Not being able to cancel your last move, if you're playing a great game and click on a stone by accident you're done! Also, four (yes, four!!!) clicks to just to start a new game after finished playing another. How many times do I have to &quot;confirm&quot; that I want to start a new game? Really, I think one or two should do it, if you want to change the difficulty and the look of the board you could do it by going to Setting instead of going through the whole thing every time you start a new game. Get this right and I'll change my rating to 5 stars.<br/>Otherwise very nice graphics and fast response to the touch, it can get really tough some times too, which is great for the advance players out there.

Very nice and polished grafx, menu's and options. Saves midgame when app closes. 10 levels difficulty, challenging but not impossible past level 6. Unlock new boards. Game has an HD look and feel. Best Reversi game all around available. Good fair price !

Great for play against the engine, or tabletop play with a friend. 20 different skill levels. The higher levels show this to be one of the strongest engines for a reversi app. I appreciate that the engine's openings vary with every turn, so you aren't stuck playing the same game every time against the computer. Only gripe is that I wish I could undo turns after a game is completed. This would help when analyzing the different outcomes of each endgame.
