This app is a new keyboard that tries to strike a compromise between the venerable but absurd QWERTY that habits dating from early typewriting have established and a rational human usage-based layout, achieved by sizing the keys in proportion to their frequency of use, and rearranging the numbers into a numeric keypad.

These are not bad ideas by any means, but they are executed inadequately. The shift key is too small. It is still necessary to go to the second keyboard to get to punctuation marks. Multi-line entries are obscured on return from another app. Worst of all, none of the Apple shortcuts, autocorrections, or special symbols (like curly quotes and accented vowels) are available.

And, of course, the use of this keyboard inserts an extra step into every piece of composition. The text, once typed, must then be sent or copied into a target app—email, SMS, text editor, or what-have-you—before any actual work can be done.

These are, to a great extent, limitations imposed by Apple. No one is allowed to make a new keyboard native to the phone. But they are such severe handicaps that I doubt this keyboard will ever be widely used.
I am buying this app only to help support the Dev. I am a paid user of the REAL iTypeFastR, and am patiently waiting for it to be released for iOS 4.x. Please support this Dev. ;) If you have never used iTypeFastR, you are in for a real treat. After you get used to it, you'll never want to use another keyboard...EVER!

The only thing I would like to see in both releases is to have the ability to change the keyboard back to the old style (L and Backspace swapped).

Keep it up!
Love it. Looks a bit different, but using it is surprisingly easy to use.
Apple should add this keyboard! Definitely recommend it!
Love this keybord! I wish I could replace the old kebord in every app...
Bought it to support the developer. I love this keyboard.
This is not worth the download let alone money. I paid and downloaded it. It's worthless. It does not do corrections. If you want to use it you must get into that app, then copy and paste. This is so not worth its space! Don't waste your money.
Didn't help me at all. Apple keyboard stinks. Can someone come up with something better than this?
I too would like Apple to make this part of its keyboard. Other than that, wow!
