Unique and refreshing

by Vellosia · August 28, 2012

In today's countless selection of "freemium" games, Oscura is a refreshing break from the games that rely on in-app purchases, focusing on challenging level design and beautiful, creative concepts. Also it's the best iOS platformer I've seen in a while. (Played Swordigo a few months ago)

However, it isn't without flaws. The default control scheme, while geared precisely for a touch screen, can become rather frustrating. Luckily there is a secondary option with virtual buttons. The game itself is also rather short, consisting of only 12 levels, but keeps some replay ability with the challenge of completing levels with a perfect score.

This game isn't too original, pulling much art and design from another game known as LIMBO, but it uses the darker style to it's own advantage, making it a gothic work of art.

All in all, this game is worth the price. Hopefully future updates will polish this little gem of a game.

Fantastic

The game is really enjoyable, and unlike others, I had no problems with the controls.

WONT WORK

by arcini8 · December 30, 2012

I'm going to give this game a bad review until it works.

So basically I load the game and it works, but when I try to load the first level, it shows the loading sign, then disappears into darkness and crashes.

Ps. FYI I have a 2g iPod touch

Bad

It seemed really cool but both of the control schemes are horrible. Also you can't listen to your own music this game is frustrating. Don't buy until it gets a decent update!

Awesome challenging game

The controls take some getting used to, but once you do the game is really engaging and pretty challenging. I like how there's different levels so I feel like I've really accomplished something the more levels I beat...definitely recommend for anyone looking for a creepy platformer!

Too difficult

This game is hard to control and could be better. For a dollar I guess you can't complain too much.
