True film emulation for iOS

by charandmeg · April 5, 2026

I have tried many of the film emulation apps. And photo apps. Some of them are very good. Dehancer though is on top for the amount of tools and film emulation available.
I am really enjoying edits on the go . There are two things that need to be addressed which is why this is not a 5 star review. The iOS version is missing the ability to batch edit this would be huge help when editing on the go for travel . And last is the biggest gripe is the lack of lifetime pay option for iOS. They have lifetime for everything else other than iOS. This feels more like a cash grab when your flagship plug ins have the option, but the mobile version is locked into a monthly or annual pay. I almost gave this. 3 star just because of the pay situation.
Overall the app performs amazingly well.

User Friendly! It is hard to find something bad to say about it

by Outdooroddsquad · September 14, 2025

I thought that this app was user friendly, especially for people who do not have technical film experience. I am just a millennial mom who runs a small family YouTube channel as a hobby, so I am quite new to film editing software. For someone who does not have muchvideo editing experience wants to make their videos look more professional, I would recommend it. The only downside is that this is only available for apple products, and videos have to be uploaded from your apple photo file.

Great emulations, not so great interface or options for editing

by Jaye Kay · May 8, 2026

Emulations are great, but the sore spot is the design of the app itself. For how much this app costs a year, l'd expect a way more polished look with way more contral than other similar apps, such as VSCO, which excluding it's emulations, does it way better.

• Needs categories, i.e. Color, Film, Popular, User Favorites, BW (There is no way to mark your favorite emulations)

• Needs to display the currently selected emulation at the top of the screen (If you scroll and select another emulation to preview, you lose what you just had and have no way of knowing what it was originally called. Would make more sense to have a History list, so if you choose a new emu, it shows you what the last few were so you can jump back and forth or compare those looks, maybe a “Comparison” button?).

• In the Lab section, there is no way to Save As a new preset?

• Wish the interface was more user friendly, it’s straight basic with no real usable options for the user, unless they do menu diving

•Would make it much easier to double tap an emu in the Films section and have it directly open to its settings so they can be further configured, instead of tapping to Lab to access it- that's an unnecessary step to do when every other app lets you do just that

• No way to copy the look of a saved video project and apply it to another video (If I have 3 videos shot at the same time, I need to be able to apply the exact emulation settings across all so they are consistent)

• Needs a way to cut video, ie remove first few seconds and or end of the video so it can be postable. No way to do that.

• Need a way to increase the volume of the video

The emulations in Dehancer are top notch and more powerful than any other film emulator out there, but the execution of it in this app is clunky and primitive at best. Would love to see an overhaul to make this much more easier to use. For now, I can only use it to set an emulation, then export and take it into another app to edit and make it post ready, which again for how much this app costs, should already be implemented

Absolutely love it

I was super skeptical about what the mobile version would be like . It does EVERYTHING you could ever want . To those who haven’t done heavy color grading before aware it is a strain on older iOS systems. I’m using m2 chip pro and works great , but my gen 1 iPad Pro struggles at times.
The end results are just as great looking as the desktop version . If you are on the fence ….Dont Hesitate
