Thor Polysonic Synthesizer

As far as synths go it’s a great stand alone, other than that I cant recommend it. If you bought this 4 to 6 years ago , then it was definitely a 5 start app when you bought it. It could still be a top synth if it were updated to an audio unit, but I have to cause to believe that will ever happen. As of now it’s still on my IPad, but I plan on buying a new IPad soon and have no plans to install Thor, not with all the audio units available because tbh, I don’t use it anymore, it’s pretty much over the hill as far as IPad synths go.

LFO 1 rarely works, even when patched it does nothing. The envelope release can’t shut off, every patch ends with a wah sound. Would be great if they fixed.

Typical Propellerheads release a great synth and then never bother updating it. The only way you can use this synth with a sequencer is through Audiobus which is being depreciated. It's also working though Audiobus is more complicated then it needs to be and limits you to one instance. AB was great back in the day when it was the only solution now only having AB is just useless. I haven't used this synth in years. <br/><br/>If you buy this soon you won't be able to use it for anything other than a standalone synth. Unless by some miracle they release an AUv3 update but I wouldn't hold your breath. <br/><br/>If youve been a Propellerheads customer in the past you know this is what they do. You wait or years for updates and when it comes it's nothing you need. I have no idea how they've survived this long but somehow they do. <br/><br/>Just wanted to capture some final thoughts before I delete this waste of space from my iPad. Congrats you got my money again and I got a barely usable synth.

Love the synth, and is very powerful, as it is in the desktop Reason, but here it drops notes! I’m playing with its own on screen keyboard, and it keeps dropping notes, which makes it completely unusable. Using a current 2018 iPad.<br/><br/>Also, why isn’t this an AUv3 yet?

You could be winning right now but you don’t support auv3.

Review updated 02/09/20<br/><br/>I revisited Thor last night and had no issues when running standalone or when hosted by either Audiobus or AUM, so I’m glad to be able to update my review. <br/><br/>Despite the initial inconvenience and despite lack of AU support, I’m bumping my review from one to five stars because I love the UI of this synth so much. It ranks up there with Animoog and Borderlands, for me, in terms of the sheer joy of its expressiveness and playability. It just hits the right spots for me and feels like an instrument. Pretty good on battery, too. :)<br/><br/>——-<br/>I just decided to treat myself to Thor. I’ve had it for about 20 minutes, it’s crashed 5 times and I can’t use it with Audiobus because it (Thor) hangs and won’t start the crashes again the next time I open it outside Audiobus.<br/><br/>I’ve done due diligence with regards to trouble shooting and have been working with music software long enough to know it’s not me or my gear. Completely unacceptable for any amount of money.

This is a great synth would be even better if it was an AUv3
