Cool but limiting

Sorry it’s incredibly frustrating having to delete a whole piece because there isn’t a undo option bc I accidentally brushed on the wrong spot<br/>And the eraser works for the entire line not an individual space ):<br/>I don’t want to rate bad since this is new but I do ask for an undo option in the future if possible

I enjoy the concept, but I think adding more brushes/unmoving brushes to the app for free would be nice (specifically the jitter brush)

I wanted to write a review, because I can see how much potential this app has, and I also see people just writing “it’s bad because it’s paid.”<br/>as an artist I’m actually excited to see this app develop, and I will be keeping it on my phone to see how it’s going. right now I cannot recommend it; this is an art app that does not function like an art app. as far as I can see; the eraser does not function like a eraser tool, as it only erases your entire stroke, not parts of the drawing like a normal art app. every time I close and reopen the app, my art could be there or it could not. there is no way to easily resize your brush. there is no undo/redo button. when doing lineart with sharp angles, the brushes struggle to stay accurate. there is no bucket tool, and the brush tool struggles to fill in large areas.<br/><br/>I am pointing out all of these things and giving the app a 2 star rating, as I want to see it get better and I hope that the dev sees and maybe can make some changes to make the app better 🙏

I understand that they need to make money, but only a few of the brushes are free, and the only good ones are behind in app purchases. On their YouTube channel they fail to mention this.

This would be better if it was like most drawing apps that just cost a one-time purchase and had everything unlocked. Making an art-tool a subscription service is always a bad look.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/><br/>I absolutely love Amber Draw and I think a lot of people are missing the point of what makes this app special.<br/><br/>I’ve seen several reviews complaining that there aren’t normal, non-animated brushes, but honestly, the entire purpose of the app is to create motion. There are already countless drawing apps available for static artwork. Amber Draw is trying to do something different by making it easy to bring illustrations to life through animated brushes, and it succeeds beautifully.<br/><br/>What I love most is that it lets me add movement to my artwork without needing to learn traditional animation. Animation can feel incredibly overwhelming and time-consuming, but Amber Draw makes the process approachable and fun. I can create a finished piece of artwork and then add motion on top of it in a way that feels intuitive and creative.<br/><br/>For people who want static elements in their work, there are workarounds. Since the app supports layers, I often combine it with other apps in my workflow. I’ll create artwork elsewhere, import it, and then use Amber Draw’s animated brushes to add motion effects. Thinking a little outside the box opens up a lot of possibilities.<br/><br/>The brush customization options are also better than people give them credit for. They aren’t overly complex, but you can get some surprisingly unique results by tweaking the settings. The concept actually reminds me of the old Tilt Brush experience in VR, which I always thought was incredibly fun and inspiring.<br/><br/>That said, my biggest request is simple:<br/><br/>Please give us more brushes.<br/><br/>A much larger animated brush library would take this app from great to incredible. I would love to see dozens or even hundreds of additional animated brushes added over time. Even better would be support for importing custom brushes or creating our own. As someone who owns thousands of brushes in Procreate, I know I’m a bit of a brush addict, but expanding the brush ecosystem would completely change the game for this app.<br/><br/>I’d also love to see an eyedropper/color picker tool if one doesn’t already exist. When I’m painting over imported artwork, being able to quickly sample colors would make the workflow much smoother. Right now I work around it by copying hex codes from Procreate, which works fine, but an eyedropper would be a fantastic quality-of-life feature.<br/><br/>Despite those requests, I genuinely think this is one of the coolest art apps I’ve seen in years. It gives artwork a unique sense of life and movement without requiring advanced animation skills. It feels fresh, creative, and different from anything else out there. It even scratches that nostalgic 2000s digital-art aesthetic that’s becoming popular again, which I personally love as a ’90s kid.<br/><br/>I really hope the developers continue supporting and expanding this app because it has enormous potential. You’ve already earned a lifelong user in me. I’ll keep using it regardless, but if you give us more brushes, I’ll probably never put it down.

I really like the app! Its super easy and fun but the only thing i find as a downside is that i cant get a precise erase:( if i try to erase smth it erases the entire line i just drew not the spot i wanted, along with that i can zoom in a lot which isnt very fun. I really enjoy the app otherwise!
