Great photos, great edits, sluggish performance

by rmcnees · June 27, 2026

The images are great, and the new editing tools give lovely results. That’s the number one takeaway. But this app has always been sluggish and you need to be prepared for that. You can put up with it if you have the absolute newest pro hardware, but anything from more than a generation ago has been frustrating to use, in my experience. If you want to compose and take one photo it’s fine; snap two or three and it has been hit or miss for me. Many photos that I thought I’d missed were in the recovery queue, but not all of them. Even on an iPhone 17 Pro I am losing photos if I try to snap more than two in quick succession. Set your expectations here: this app is for capturing one or two intentionally composed photos, not for snapping lots of pics.

watch out

Greedy developers

Get “Camera M” instead. The developers of that app don’t force you to pay absurd amounts to use an app you already paid for once.

There is no excuse to charge people $60 for a camera app. If you already purchased early on you pay the same amount as someone who has not.

Avoid this developer!!!

Normally great but something broke

Ever since a recent update some photos haven’t been saving. Kind of makes the camera unusable if I can’t rely on it to save the photos I take.

Manual focus doesn’t work

by Ggtr27 · June 30, 2026

The sole reason I wanted this app was so I could set focus to infinity when taking pictures through glass etc. However, when I set focus to infinity (while leaving all other settings on auto), the pictures come out unusably blurry

Another subscription service

Not going to pay for a camera app when I’m already paying adobe products to edit photos for me, just another reason to fork over money for things to look good at minimal effort.

Not a Camera expert but love this app

I love photography - my friend gave me a lengthy speil about why he likes Halide and I took the bait. Something about how they use the iPhone lens to make images more flat and abide by it's best foundational hardware. Whatever, I went for it. All I can say is I LOVE the photos I take with this app. Love. It's not a filter thing. The lighting and texture I get is great.

For anyone curious I encourage you to try it you!
